The West, North and East Cumbria Success Regime has been established to help create the right conditions for high quality health and social care to develop in this area. Its aim is to secure improvement by introducing new care models where appropriate, developing leadership capacity and capability across the health system and ensuring collaborative working.

Our emerging vision is to develop within West, North and East Cumbria an international centre of excellence for integrated health and care provision in rural, remote and dispersed communities.  Our ambition is to see the local health community become an international beacon for integrated health and care provision for remote populations.

The proposed public consultation on health services in West, North and East Cumbria which was expected to begin in July of this year has been delayed until after the summer holidays. A number of people – including some of our local MPs – have told us they would like a little more time to better understand some aspects of our emerging thinking.

With this in mind we have arranged three stakeholder engagement meetings at which the Success Regime will explain its thinking in a number of areas including maternity services, community hospitals, staff recruitment, urgent care services and Integrated Care Communities. There will also be an opportunity for discussion and questions. We would like to involve representatives from as many local organisations as possible including patient groups, staff, carers, community groups, campaign groups, voluntary organisations etc.

The meetings are scheduled to take place on 27 July (Workington), 2 August (Penrith) and 11 August (Carlisle).

If your organisation would like to attend one of these meetings please email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. We will then send you details of the venue, time etc. Places are limited but we will try to ensure that every organisation that wishes to be represented will be able to attend at least one meeting.
